MLB Halladay pitches a no-hitter in his first playoff game

Halladay has pitched a gem. Not that the Reds stood much of a chance against him, but in his first postseason game and he is going for the no-hitter? Unreal.

    Halladay and the no-hitter.

    Way to be Reds.

And the scary thing is that he is so capable of doing it a second time if the Phillies give him another few starts.

    Dude is unreal.

If it's Phils-Yanks world series, I vote for Halladay vs. Sabathia every game.

Has anyone ever thrown two no-hitters in one year?

And does this count for that?

I was torn as to who to root for since the Reds such a long drought, Roy never been in, love Gomes, Roy lives in my town and patrons the restaurant I work at.........until the 6th then I had to go for Roy to get a no hitter in his first post season game. Unbelievable!

I don't know if it officially counts but I am counting it. I have had the pleasure of watching both his no-no and perfect game live this year. Today I watched the best pitching performance of my lifetime. That play Ruiz made to end was unreal too and should not be forgotten.

And yes there have been two no-no in one year. Nolan Ryan did it and Johnny Vander Meer threw two in a row.

Here's what Wikipedia had to say:
The most recent no-hitter in Major League Baseball was thrown by Matt Holliday of the Philadelphia Phillies on October 6, 2010 against the Cincinnati Reds in Game 1 of the 2010 National League Division Series. It was the sixth of the 2010 season (the most no-hitters in one season since seven in 1991) and the second in MLB postseason history.

Stick a fork in the Reds? People weren't giving the much of a chance to begin with, now this. Do they bounce back or dwell on this?

My thought is... HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU GET NO HIT IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!??? C'mon Dusty, we just locked you up for two more years, the least you could do is have someone lay down a bunt.

This just solidifies that Doc Halladay is the best pitcher in the game today. He never seems to amaze. Two no-no's in one year and one being his first ever playoff start. He is an amazing pitcher.

Because that would guarantee a base hit?

Besides, let's say someone got a hit in the 9th with 2 outs and the next guy grounded out.

Would that be any better than what happened? They'd still be down 0-1 in the series.
