I am liking this pickup for the Reds but a little surprised the Cards didn't jump on this. Jocketty reunites Edmonds with Rolen and provides a veteran presence in the OF. He has done quite well off the bench this year and in case one of the youngsters start to slump a tad, Edmonds is there to fill in.Reds acquired OF Jim Edmonds from the Brewers for OF Chris Dickerson.
Interesting timing by Reds manager Walt Jocketty, whose club opens an important three-game series on Monday night against Edmonds' former team, the second-place Cardinals. Edmonds, 40, has posted a respectable .843 OPS, eight home runs and 20 RBI in 217 at-bats this season. The Reds have a crowded outfield and playing time will be limited, but he's a nice bat to have off the bench.
