    welcome newest red

The Reds signed pitcher Jimmy Serrano to a minor league contract.
Serrano had been with the A's, but a clause in his contract allowed him to become a free agent if he wasn't in the majors by July 1. ''He's only about 5-foot-8, but he has a very good arm,'' general manager Dan O'Brien said.

Hmm, anyone have a scouting report? His stats with KC last season aren't tremendous, but they aren't bad either.

I don't have his stats. right now, but wow... 5'8? I'm an inch or so taller than him, and he's a pitcher!

I know what you mean CRF. The guy might have a totally different career if he was just 4 or so inches taller.

Thanks ghetto! Anyhow, I wonder if he is going to be any good? If not, I guess we had nothing to lose. I couldn't find stats at all on this guy, so if anyone can get something on him, please share.

Thanks slyder! I agree, he couldn't be any worse and hopefully the chance given to him will pay off for all of us. Its a doubtful situation to expect him to be a difference maker, but if he could at least help out our bullpen someday, I am all for the pick up.

Giving up 5 HRs in a little almost 33 innings is decent, the ERA could come down BUT I like the almost 7 Ks per 9 innings. I don't think any of the present staff are near that are they? It can't hurt to have a look at this guy. Hopefully he can come in and help somewhere, ANY help would be loved about now.
