So you would rather save money than field a competitive team?

  2. #17
no, i would rather have it. It is very easy to say, 'Just get a pitcher' when you have the money to do so.

Your posts have officially lost any meaning they might possess with that statement. Your baseball knowledge is now 0.

    1. New York Yankees-$208,306,817
    10. Atlanta Braves-$86,457,302

We're third in our own division in payroll for crying out loud. We're trying to shed our payroll; we can't spend any more money.

That kind of thinking is leftover from the Jim Bowden regime. I don't think Dan O'Brien is from that school

when did jim bowden ever get pitching?
    Reds MVP Race

    6: Arroyo, Harang
    5: Kearns
    4: Phillips
    3: Dunn, Felo, Freel, Milton
    2: Claussen, EdE, Griffey, Valentin
1: Aurilia, Hatteberg, Lizard, Larue, Shackelford

Exactly. My point was that Bowden comes from the school of mashing your opponents with guys like Dunn, Kearns and Wily Mo and pitching is secondary.

Braves have been top 10 in salary for years. Period. They are not the yanks payroll, nobody is. The 'shedding' of payroll still has the braves with more than 30 million more than the Reds. Thats enough for 2-3 'aces' right there. Dont play dumb.

That's because your owner is a cheap bastard, like 2/3 of the MLB owners are. No need to go hating.

they are not the yanks payroll, nobody is
    I agree.

You, apparently, are bipolar, because in your last post, you said

the braves like the yankees can spend the cash
Will you PLEASE make up your mind?

I included the yanks earlier when speaking Atlien b/c they spend cash....doenst mean they spend the same

btw.....I like the braves, I just love the reds.

    How about this offer:

    Reds get: Furcal, Lerew, Estrada

    Braves get: Dunn

    Again, HELL NO.

Larue is better than Estrada, Lopez is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Furcal, and Larew is not a great prospect. good but not great.

you want Dunn? start with Davies, Betemit/Marte, and Chuck James.

Pass. You arent going to get anyone here on the bangwagon for a Braves trade unless a young impact pitcher is the big return coming back. Lerew is a fine prospect but nothing I would be so desperate to get to give up the 10th best OPS in baseball. Furcal is overpaid for his production this year. I know he can do better than what he is indicating but I am very satisfied with Felo at SS and Freel/Bergolla at 2B for the next few years. And I am pretty content with LaRue at the moment as well. I hope the FO keeps him due to the intangibles his personality brings to this team.

Uh oh. Now you did it. Gone and done pushed General over the edge.

If the Giants' asking price for Schmidt is three top prospects, the Reds should try and get a similar deal for a guy like Dunn.
