I voted yes, the team wasnt happy, they werent performing, and Miley certainly wasnt doing much to help. This was a needed change, it will be interesting to see if some guys start pitching more for whiffs and see their MPH come back. My only regret was both had worked for the franchise for so long they couldnt find another way besides straight firing.

I voted No, the GM O'Brien needs to go.

  4. #4
Definitely the GM needs to go but so do Gullett and Miley. I'd like to see a new GM bring in an experienced manager like Leyland and clean house. They may need to wait until the end of the year to fire O'Brien. Just so long as they fire him before he hires a permanent manager

What can Leyland do? He took over a Rockies team with Larry Walker, Todd Helton, Vinny Castilla, and Dante Bichette in the middle of the lineup and the Rockies still finished last in the division.

Yes! We needed this and we need more to follow. Remember, start from the top. Think higher Reds!

I voted yes. No, it was not their fault, but things had to change. The proof was in the pudding with guys mouthing off and the team just being out of control on and off the field.

realmofo is right on Leyland. I always thought he was overrated and he really did a very lousy job with the Rockies.

I'm getting conflicting reports about O'Brien's status with the team. Some are indicating him being fired very soon, while others are leaning more in the direction of the end of the year or even next year.

I voted no. I wanted to see Miley go for a while, but I dont think the timing is good. Also add the fact I am not sold on Narron. But I think Gammons said how I feel just a few minutes ago on BBTN. He said that Allen needs to go and I totally agree. Until he is gone, I will be shocked if we ever see progress. Even if O'Brien is better than we think he is.

I'm not so sure Narron will be the Manager beyond this year.

And I wouldn't "worry" about O'Brien being better than we think he is.

Then we're right back to where we started...in the dark. If you get a better forecast than "sunny with a chance of showers" let us all in on it.

I for one am rooting for Jerry Narron to do well. I like him a lot. He is a baseball guy. He is a guy that has a great work ethic. You want to see guys like him succeed. I think he is legit.

As for Gammons, he is still bitter that his friend, Jim Bowden got a raw deal with the Reds. While he makes great points, I can't help but think he has an agenda.

I'll be sure to do that, but I think this whole situation is a tough one to call.

Wouldn't next year be his last contract year? Ugh, figures with the Reds.

Anyway, which reports do you think are more valid?

I agree 100% volzok. I know O'Brien wasn't his choice for GM but this guy has way too much power for his position. With other teams you don't hear about their COO with THAT much power.
