I think that the Nix signing is a good low risk signing, as his $600,000 contract won't kick in unless he makes the opening day roster. He has shown potential power, but has lacked contact in his big league appearances. I must admit that I am somewhat intrigued by Taveras as it would be nice to have a 50+ sb threat in our lineup.....however, I am quite confused by how he can play in Colorado, steal 60+ bases and only manage to score 64 runs while playing in 133 games not to mention only driving in 24 runs. Up until last year his batting avg has been decent to good, but he shows no signs of drawing walks and he does strike out much more than most of us would. As far as Wigginton goes, it would be nice to be able to bring a bat with some pop off the bench and he has played 1b,3b,2b and OF in his career so that would definitely add flexibility. Having said all of that, I would imagine someone else could use him as a starter, something we likely wouldn't consider unless Ed E gets traded.

Anyone else have any thoughts

Ty Wigginton= Not bad in a platoon... everyday player not so much

Willy Tavaras= Please God let ANYONE else sign a glossier Corey Patterson and save him from Duhhhsty.

We shall see, but I fully expect Duhhhsty's printing press to be working over time to make sure he has 160 lineup sheets with Willy Tavares playing CF and leading off regardless of how much he helps/hurts the offense with his free swinging.
