Rumor Reds supposedly interested in Nelson Cruz

According to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan, the Reds may pursue Rangers' outfielder Nelson Cruz to replace Ken Griffey Jr. in right field.

Cruz, 28, is hitting a ridiculous .345/.436/.716 with 37 home runs in 97 minor league games. Of course, this is his fourth shot at Triple A.
    Per MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

I wonder if the Reds would try to swing a Salty/Laird+Cruz type of a deal?

Those numbers are insane. We all know the Cruz story and how he fails at an epic level at the MLB.... but if the price wasn't killer, it might not be the worst gamble even if the odds are low that he pans out.

I'd take it for a nice price. What would the Rangers want though. Surely they don't think they are in contention with the Angels ready to kill their division.
