Forecast Predict Bailey's line for his '08 Call-Up

As redsr noted in the Fogg thread, Bailey is expected to pitch Thursday vs. the Phillies per Hal McCoy.
To replace him, the Reds called up relief pitcher Gary Majewski, which begs the question. Who starts Thursday in Philadelphia, Fogg’s turn?

Manager Dusty Baker was coy about it, but it is finally Homer Bailey time. Bailey was scheduled to pitch for the Class AAA Louisville Bats tonight and will, but is expected to pitch only two innings and take the rest of the night off.

He’ll face the Phillies Thursday in Philadelphia.

Personally I don't like this move much as a Phillies lineup is the last thing that Homer on a bad night needs with guys like Rollins, Utley and Howard. I hate to be pessimistic, but his latest outings have not inspired confidence. But perhaps with his attitude, he regressed not due to any lack of talent, but to a bad attitude (ie, upset with not being called-up yet.)

    My prediction: 5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

Not only do the Phils have a good lineup and not only has Bailey been struggling; but the Phillies have scored a ton of runs lately. Putting up a 20 run game and another double digit game thereafter. They are killing the ball right now.

I don't think it is for sure that he is getting the call though. At least it isn't set in stone. The broadcast team today does not know who it will be and they suggested Arroyo go on 4 days rest again.

My prediction is he does get called up:

    5.2 IP 9H 6ER 4BB 1K

I think it is an attitude thing, which still needs to be straightened out whether he succeeds or not. I think your line is pretty close, I would add one more inning though. 6 IP 4 ER. Prove us wrong Bailey.

A ND and is limited to 80-85 pitches. So about 5.1 innings and gives up 4 ER's

I'm exited to see what he can do, we defiantly are in need of a solid 5th Starter, but I'm afraid that the Phillies may kill his confidence.

Was anyone able to catch Bailey's start today? He did go 6 1/3 innings but only struck out 1 and walked 4. Allowed 5 runs. I'm wondering how he looked out there.

5 runs scored but I thought only 2 were earned.

Ya only 2 earned. I hear that we had about 4 errors today, and a couple dropped fly balls by Griffey and Janish. I'm not positive who committed the errors though.

Not a bad line. Not as bad as many of us expected at least. The strikeouts are down and the walks are aswe expected though. If he can build on this though, things could start looking up for his future.

Ya, he pitched pretty good, just no defense it looked like. The lack of strike outs is worrisome though, especially against such a heavy strikeout squad in the Phillies. Definitely earned a few more looks though in my book. Did anyone catch the game?

I didn't; in anticipation of the draft I did not realize the game was so early.
