Reds I guess it could be worse...

    According to Yahoo.
    R. Freel cf
    P. Janish ss
    K. Griffey Jr. rf
    B. Phillips 2b
    E. Encarnacion 3b
    A. Dunn lf
    D. Ross c
    J. Valentin 1b
    E. Volquez p

At least Patterson isn't leading off, maybe we'll actually get a contribution from Freel. a lot of pressure on Griffey-Dunn I expect absolutely nothing from 7-9 with the bat.

    Cliff Lee is a lefty and Votto (.293 .383 .537) sits but Griffey (.167 .286 .238) and Dunn (.167 .326 .361)don't?

Freel did have a leadoff basehit and scored in the first inning against Lee. Good PA from Janish as well to be only the second BB by Lee all season.

1-0 Reds so far. Glad to see we got an early lead.

That sucks. He may be out for the season then. Two pretty good SS on the shelf.

Volquez gets out of trouble again for his second inning of work.

Yeah Dunn will not be scoring a run today unless he homers. 7-8-9 in the order are not going to help him one bit.

    End of 2, 1-0 Reds.

its amazing what happens when the 2nd hole hitter comes up with an actually runner on rathter than 1 out to start things off. Of course Dusty will probably put Patterson right back out there tomorrow leading off.

Volquez gets through the third without giving up a run.

I would bet on it. But as CRF noted in the random rumblings thread, Patterson did make some plays in CF that nobody else could have. So it has it's advantages too I guess. I just wish he were not leading off.

Janish is making a case for himself. He works the count full with 2 outs and then gets a basehit up the middle. I like it. Maybe we have 3 good SS?

1-0 after 3 now. Griffey hasn't got it done so far today. He has left 3 runners on base in 2 ABs

Now Janish makes a great catch on an errant throw by Valentin, then turns the DP. I love it!

1-1 game now as the clutch Casey Blake got a basehit with a RISP. Too bad Ross couldn't get a handle on the ball when Cabrera stole that base. That hurts.

Dunn is doing it big now! 4 games- 4 HRs. He blasted one to LF again. I love you Adam Dunn!

    2-1 Reds after 4.

But youre cancelling out any value Patterson has over Freel by putting yourself in a hole by not only having 1 guarenteed out coming up in the 9th hole but shooting yourself in the foot by putting the worst hitting outfielder in the next spot.
