only other Canadians to hit 3 HR in a game are Justin Morneau and Larry Walkers (3 times in his career) and both are MVP winners, is Votto next?

Joey Votto hit three of the Reds' seven homers Wednesday in a 9-0 rout of the Cubs.
Votto went back-to-back with Adam Dunn in the second and with Brandon Phillips in the fifth before adding his third homer in the sixth. He had a chance for a fourth, but he grounded out against Michael Wuertz in the eighth. Paul Bako and Jerry Hairston Jr. also went deep for the Reds. Votto entered with no homers and two RBI in his last 12 games. Still, manager Dusty Baker has stuck with him as the starter at first base. A showing like today's guarantees that it will take a long slump to ever get him out of the lineup now.

Yep Votto is your next Canadian MVP if Jason Bay doesn't beat him to it. Good to see him clubbing today! Matter of fact the whole team hit the ball hard today somehow. Fluke? We'll likely be dissapointed tomorrow and realize this team still can't hit.

Seriously though, when Dusty and Jocketty get "their" players in, I expect more games like today. Dusty likes aggressive hitters who are clutch, particularly when it comes to hitting HR.

I was at this game. I was definately impressed how 2 of the 3 Hrs were slightly opposite field to left-center.
