I am very glad to see Krivsky not give up on Bruce so easily. Not that Bedard is a prime target, but we do have plenty of other guys available.
Bedard would be sick! Now we know the caliber of pitcher Krivsky is going after. I still think we have as much if not more to offer prospect wise than the likes of the Yankees, Mets, or Red Sox. But we just need a pitcher that has a few more years on his contract.
Votto, Cueto plus Stubbs... would you pull the trigger? I doubt the Orioles would, but I would much rather give up a bit more in overall talent than to miss out on a guy like Bruce.
.: My Last.fm
I would definitely do that. I know eventually I am going to hate losing young talent. It is so hard to think about losing guys with bright futures. But for Bedard? Absolutely.
From Amy Nelson at ESPN:
Teams inquiring about Erik Bedard have been told that it's going to take a superior package of prospects, and the Orioles are telling clubs they already have four teams with very promising packages.
Looks like we are out of the running for Bedard:
We definitely don't have the bullpen arm they want. Oh well, moving on I guess.2:56 p.m., from Amy Nelson
• The Orioles and Dodgers may be close on a deal that will send left-hander Erik Bedard to Los Angeles, a baseball source said. The O's are in need of a center fielder and a closer who can play at the major league level, and the Dogders seem willing to part with outfielder Matt Kemp and reliever Jonathan Broxton, who could come in a close in lieu of Chris Ray, out for the year after Tommy John surgery. "They want Bedard bad," said the source.

From my man at 700WLW: (This is happening as I type)
Info I'm being told...from Nashville:
- HEAVY interest in Bedard and want him BADLY.
- Orioles right now insisting that Bruce be part of the deal, and the Reds are a bit torn on what to do....he's about the most "untouchable" they have.
- If the Orioles back off Bruce and settle for Votto, a deal very well could happen and Bailey or Cueto would be part of the package (there may be another piece, I don't know)
There you go...we'll see what happens.
When and how the Reds add to their five World Championships, nine pennants and nine division titles seems less important than the franchises' lineage, which traces a line back to the dawn of the professional game and their role as keeper of the historic flame they lit by birthing the Red Stockings in 1869.
Thanks Rijo! Keep the news coming!
So how do you guys like the thought of this? I know we would be giving up far too much if Bruce were a part of the deal. But Votto would be much better.
My heart just started beating much faster after reading this. What are the thoughts?
This is coming from Paul Daugherty I guess. I cant wait to get in my car and listen to WLW now.
From Matt 700WLW:
I would do Cueto and Hamilton for sure. I think we have to keep Bailey.Votto and Cueto/Bailey or Hamilton and Cueto/Bailey could get it done.
One of those pitchers will have to go.
This is being talked about with Seg Dennison on WLW right now. Come on Daugherty, keep the news coming.
Mets just made an offer for Bedard:
So obviously we are going to have to match or beat that. So if you need Bailey in your rotation next year, you have to throw out Cueto. Then Hamilton isn't has coveted as Gomez right now, so you may have to think Bruce. Which I wouldn't do.8:12 p.m., from Steve Phillips
• The Mets offered Aaron Heilman, Carlos Gomez and Philip Humber for Erik Bedard.
That offer is a ****ing joke.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
Weak from the Mets? I know, but the Reds have to at least beat that. I am trying to measure who would be better. Votto is not a better spect than Gomez in my opinion. But it all depends on what the O's are looking for.
I think Hamilton and Cueto is a far better deal than this for sure. So maybe you are right, the O's should laugh at this deal and go talk to Krivsky some more.
O's standing strong and expecting a lot:
Link"We really are not significantly different than where we were [Monday] at this time," MacPhail said. "Our philosophy is pretty simple. We think we have a pretty good understanding of what is equitable for certain guys, and when we get there, great. Until we get there, we'll stay where we are. It's really a simple equation."
This is getting to be nuts. Too much for me.
