    Tomko? Wells? Lieber?

    Per mlbtraderumors.com

Brett Tomko's agent met with the Rockies today. Brown says the Pirates, Nationals, Marlins, Reds, and Rangers are after him too. Separately it's been said that the Astros are in on him too. The Padres made a weak $1.5MM offer to Tomko.

Hopefully this is just talk. But apparently this reporter is walking around the hotel in Nashville gathering whispers.

I read on the insider about 2 days ago that there are several teams in on him but he is a #5 at best anywhere and he said he will until some others sign to see what develops. Either way he is a bad fit in Cincy, he needs to play out west w/ all the big ballparks and apparently that is where he prefers to be is out west from what I have gathered. He will eventually sign with S.D. probably for about 2 mill.

When and how the Reds add to their five World Championships, nine pennants and nine division titles seems less important than the franchises' lineage, which traces a line back to the dawn of the professional game and their role as keeper of the historic flame they lit by birthing the Red Stockings in 1869.

    From C Trent:

ESPN's Jayson Stark is reporting the Reds are interested in Jon Lieber. Add Lieber to the list including David Wells and Brett Tomko. The Reds will have to get some "retread" and hope he sticks, just because of the numbers.
These guys are much less than a Bedard, Haren, or anything else. Is anyone fine with signing them as a #3 or #4? The bright side would be us keeping our young position players and Cueto in AAA ready to come up soon. Bailey would be in our rotation as well.

    Anyone fine with that?

    per rotoworld:

Brett Tomko doesn't see himself signing with the Padres or any other interested team this week.

Tomko has a $1.5 million offer on the table from San Diego, but the Padres want him as a reliever and he'd prefer to start. "We're being very patient," he said. "I'd love to come back [to San Diego] if it's the right situation." He says the Nats, Pirates, Reds and Rockies are also interested.
He is just bidding his time to see if a better offer will be put up. Anyone like him at all?

Maybe for the Nats or Marlins where he would be the highest paid player.
