The solution to Marc Katz' terrible writing? Doug Harris, the guy who hates to write

Pittsburgh strikes early in 8-4 win over Cincinnati

    By Doug Harris

    Dayton Daily News

CINCINNATI | The pitching-poor Cincinnati Reds sent wide-eyed neophyte Elizardo Ramirez to the mound against the Pittsburgh Pirates for his third career start, and the results were predictable.

Ramirez didn't last three innings, getting shelled for six earned runs in an 8-4 defeat Thursday.

"He was behind in the count and up in the (strike) zone, and he got hurt," Reds manager Dave Miley said.

"I don't want to say he was tentative, but he didn't seem as aggressive as other times out. That is part of the learning experience."

Ramirez isn't the only Cincinnati player getting on-the-job training.

With several regulars ailing and Ken Griffey Jr. getting a night off, the Reds fielded a lineup that included William Bergolla, Felipe Lopez, Luis Lopez, Jason Romano and Javier Valentin. Rest assured, nobody is clamoring for their baseball cards.

I just had to post this for that reason alone. If Doug hates to write that much, why does he do it for a living?

This is the best game recap ever.
