    Jeff Conine Has Cleared Waivers

    Hatte was blocked.

FYI, I know this news is a couple of days old but, I didn't see any thread pertaining to it.

I'll be pretty aggravated if Conine isn't moved for something. ANYTHING. We're not going anywhere this year and Conine is retiring next season. NO reason to not deal him for something. There's likely a number of teams who could use YoungBody.

Conine won't be moved. I will be shocked if he is.

A+ To Wayne for getting rid of him. Cantu up seems to be popular logic/rumor now. Any idea names or if they are thought to amount to anything?

They will probably be raw, but if they have any potential at all the deal will be great and even if they don't we got rid of the MediCare user.

Given his status (soon to be retiree), I doubt the potential is much either, but either way this was a needed move to get Votto up here. I know Votto has nothing left to prove in AAA (he has been on a tear this month) but they could call up Cantu like Slyder mentioned and hope he feels the GABP effect and we could flip him for a good reliever in the offseason then (depending on how much he hits of course) because unless the Reds want to make a really foolish move or simply be happy with him on the bench for power (which we need of course), he doesn't have a spot to play at.

Reds received 20 yr old SS Jose Castro and 22 yr old OF Sean Henry. Both played for St Lucie in the Mets organization and both are being called up to our AA Chattanooga. In a related move, Jorge Cantu was called up from Louisville instead of Votto.

As much as I hate to admit this, I do like this pickup by the Mets. Conine has post-season experience and can play multiple positions. He is also a good pinch-hitter.

It is a good thing he can't pitch, cause I still don't think the Mets have enough pitching to win.
