I just read this from another board - seems the Reds could be opening a spot up for Votto to come up.

MLB Trade Rumors: Healey's LatestThe Reds, Rockies, and others have been scouting the Yankees' Double A Trenton affiliate. Joba Chamberlain, Ian Kennedy, and Brett Gardner are probably the most desirable players on that roster. Gotham Baseball has previously connected the Yankees to Brian Fuentes and David Weathers.
Weathers and Hatteberg packaged together to net a guy like Chamberlain (or even Kennedy)? Unrealistic, but I salivate at the thought.

ESPN - Stark: Rumblings and Grumblings - MLBThe Yankees continue to hunt for a first baseman. The latest rumored name on their shopping list: The Reds' Scott Hatteberg.
I trade Hatteberg to make room for Votto, but Hatteberg is definitely worth seeking a nice return. I don't see this as a possibility for the Yankees though. Maybe as a last case scenario. Thats not talking bad about Hatteberg, but with the Yankees interest in Helton, makes it hard to believe Hatteberg as a possibility.
I'd be open to acquiring Hatteberg, depends on the cost tho
So, how drunk do I have to get Cashman for Weathers/Hatteberg for Chamberlain? I'll do it.

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.
I have known of this for about 2 weeks (A MLB source), I should have said something but I figured it wasn't really worth mentioning as we aren't likely to get one of the above listed for him/them.
But just for the record Joba Chamberlain has his flaws like his weight was reportedly about 290 at one point, and some injuries. He's a bust or boom prospect who has some serious lean towards busting, thus why he was acquired in the draft last year where he was (Yankees late selection, Rd.1 Sandwich pick #41 overall) as opposed to where his talent should have gotten him (top 10-15).
When and how the Reds add to their five World Championships, nine pennants and nine division titles seems less important than the franchises' lineage, which traces a line back to the dawn of the professional game and their role as keeper of the historic flame they lit by birthing the Red Stockings in 1869.
Rijo has a source(s)? Awesome!
Anyhow, I was up on Chamberlain before last year's draft. I remember wanting him in the second round. But I can see that from him. Although I have never seen him pich, I am not sure of this. But I have afriend who is a die hard Nebraska fan and he swears by him. That would make sense as he was their ace.
I honestly like the thought of a Hatteberg and Weathers deal for Chamberlain. For them, I would take the chance on a guy who is supposed to have a good upside. Weathers and Hatteberg are definitely gone next year. Weathers looks sexy to everyone right now I imagine and Hatteberg is without a doubt a great approach hitter. If Helton doesn't land, this could be interesting. But I will be a little uneasy due to Rijo's report above.

Awesome man, keep them coming as often as possible.
Any prospects we can get for those guys is fine with me. It's all about building from within at this point.
are they looking at every team's firstbasemen?
