    Jarrod Saltalamacchia

Even though I had to copy and paste his name, I really like this guy.

Switch hitting catcher, how good is he at receiving and calling the game?

Also, what would it take to get him? Any Braves fans out there? Salt is blocked by McCann who is probably the #1 catcher in the MLB IMO. A position change would have to take place, but I think they could get some value out of him. I'd surely love to trade for him.

They are leading the wild card race right now, and not far behind the Mets for the division. Their team doesn't have any major holes in it, besides maybe first base. Not so sure about their future at 3B, but then again I'm not real familar with their farm system.

I think he's untouchable. As for the glut of catchers, it appears they're moving Salty to first to alleviate that problem - you'll recall they just released Craig Wilson.

    Don't tell me that.

In my own crazy fantasy world I would trade Dunn for Salt and Soriano.

Salty-Dog is the best catching prospect in the game, showing power from both sides of the play and improving his defense at catcher enough to really silence any critics of him in that regard (his arm is very questionable though.) From everything I've heard, the Braves are psyched on him like the Reds are with Bruce, so I would think that makes him virtually untouchable.

Salty is probably not even close to being available, and it would probably take more than Dunn and prospects to get him. And I mean Dunn and Bruce.

If you aimed lower in the Braves system, Kala Kaaihue is also excellent, hitting-wise. EDIT: Hes not a catcher though. X)

Yeah, Dunn for Salty and Soriano. Even for fantasy, that's fairly delusional.

    As is Dunn AND Bruce.

I doubt Salty will be moved. The Braves really like the kid and will try a position switch before trading. 1B would be most likely since the release of Wilson.

Yeah, you guys are probably right.

I still would like to have him though. But never for Bruce & Dunn

I don't think anyone would blame you for that sentiment. It's a shame that the Braves are moving him away from catcher, obviously McCann is tops for young catchers in the game, but the Braves could easily demand a king's ransom for the kid if they allowed him to continue developing behind the plate.

    Re: Jarrod Saltalamacchia

It would probably be a good idea.

    1) He is a catcher and if he stays there, typically catchers get old fast
    2) while he should put up great numbers, if you take the position out of the equations he won't be a top batter
    3) if you already have great production at catcher, which is rare, 2 would be a surplus

However, if he was a Red I wouldn't want to trade him unless if I was blown completely out of the water.
