Reds Prediction of the Month: May 2005

This will be a monthly contest started by me to see who knows just how much the Reds will succeed or fail. I will ask a question on the team's performance (IE ERA of the starters, stolen bases, etc) and whoever gets closest to that mark will win some sort of graphic from me.

This month it will be simple to start. Predict the Red's team batting average from the 15th of May to the end of the month, the 31st. During the timeframe of the contest this is who they will play:

    15th- Philly
    16th-18th Mets
    20th-22nd Indians
    23rd-25th Nationals
    26th-29th Pirates
    30th-31st Astros
    http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/NASAp...x.jsp?c_id=cin

For a grand total of 16 games. Also, a tiebreaker question will be asked just in case. The tiebreaker is:

What will be the highest number of walks issued by one Red's pitcher this month? No name is needed.
    ---

So all that is needed is an answer on their team BA during that time frame and just the number of the highest walks issued by one Reds pitcher. Pretty simple. The question for next month will be a bit harder; I am just testing this out.

The reason that the period starts on the 15th is because I want to give everyone a fair chance to enter. So you have until the start of the game on the 15th to submit your entries. Obviously, no duplicate answers. And I will go by what is closest no matter what (over or under, whoever is closest.)

Since it is a shortened month, the prize will be a sig and avatar set from myself. You pick the player. Although due to the limits of some player's pics on the net some players could be hard (IE retired players or newly called up players) so you might need to have a second choice ready.

Let me know if anyone has any questions, I imagine I goofed up somewhere.

It's not walks in one game...it's walks within that period by any one pitcher.

OK, so we're guessing the team BA for the second half of the month but we're guessing the walks for the entire month? Is that correct?

Yep. Team BA and the highest walk total issued by one Red's pitcher for the second half of May.

Put me down for .269 and 9 walks. I hope I don't win and the actual average is much higher!

I still don't think this offense is clicking but in looking at the teams on that list it looks like the easiest two week stretch pitching-wise that we've had. It should also help to exchange guys like Aurilia for Lopez.
