    Reds Survivor - Day One

Here are the rules and current 25 man roster as stated by Cincy:
    http://strike3forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1819
Ok, this is a game that I played at another forum a couple of years ago.

    The following are my rules:

    1. For the next 24 or 25 days, you will vote each day for who you believe is the worst player on the Reds 25 man roster until one Reds player is left, and that Reds player will be named the winner of the game. You may vote for any Reds player for any reason.

    2. The voting will start and end each night at 11 p.m(The game will start tonight 5/10/05).

    3. You are only to vote once and you're to post your vote clearly. You may post the reason to why you voted for who you did, but you don't have to.

    4. You can only vote for Reds players, not Reds coaches.

    5. In the case of a tie between two or more Reds players, the outcome will be decided by past votes in previous rounds. If two or more Reds players have the same number of past votes, the decision will then be made personally by me on the basis on their stats.

    6. It's ok if you're unable or cannot vote everyday.

    7. If the Reds make a roster move, the new Reds roster player will take the old Reds roster players place in the game if the old is still active.

    8. The rules of this game may change at anytime. If you guys have any comments, questions, or concerns, please feel free to contact me via pm' at anytime.

    9. Have fun and GO REDS!

Yep. Valentin gets my vote. What an underserved roster spot. I heard Chris Welsch saying essentially the only reason he got the job this spring was because the pitchers were familar with him, so basically it doesn't matter what he does (or fails to do.)

David Weathers. I know hes pitched better recently but without him we probably wouldnt have the problems with the staff in the stand point of who we could send down and who would be out of options and stick us with an extra pitcher.

This signing made the least sense of the group and cost the most of the bullpen guys.

Danny Graves. Has not had a single good outing yet. Cries to the media about the fans. And to me, Valentin is still a good option compared to what we have in the minor leagues, and may be better than LaRue at this point in the season.

Valentin is a worse option than practically anyone in baseball, IMO.

Here are his stats in his limited PT so far this year:

    .240 .259 .320 .579

That is just in limited PT. It is likely he would be even worse if he played for extended periods.

LaRue has had a miserable start to the year, but despite that, his numbers are not that much worse(lower OPS, higher OBP). His career stats. show he'll improve, while Valentin won't.

Don't forget the team was (22-34) last year with anyone but LaRue catching, and over .500 with him.

I keep underrating LaRue's ability to call a game and keep a pitcher comfortable. So in that aspect LaRue has Valentin beat no doubt. But as far as offensive punch goes, I really have not seen much in LaRue. It looks to me like he is standing higher in his stance this year and maybe Chambliss is working something and has something to do with that. But he has been patient at times too, and he gets the walks along with the HBP. So, I retreat my statement that Valentin has been better than LaRue so far. But my vote still goes to Graves right now.

Oh, I can understand the vote. I just wanted to make sure justice was served to everyone here.

LOL probably not. But if you start one in the M's forum, I am sure we will vote there too.
