    Schoeneweis declines arbitration

    Scott Schoeneweis-R-Reds Dec. 8 - 12:56 am et

Free agent Scott Schoeneweis declined the Reds' offer of arbitration.
Schoeneweis remains likely to get a multiyear deal somewhere, perhaps from the Tigers or Giants. The Reds seemingly haven't displayed much interest in keeping him.
    Per Rotoworld.com

+1 for draft pick city. I thought he was pretty decent last season actually, but the draft pick and the lack of overpaying him in a big way is obviously the preferred way to go.

Yep, I figured he would deny it anyway. Good news here. Sounds like we are getting quite a few draft picks due to players opting for FA. Anyone know the tally?

    First-Round Picks
    15. Reds

    Supplemental First-Round Picks
    36. Reds (Rich Aurilia, A, to SF)

    2nd Round:
    62. Reds (Aurilia to SF)

Plus another 2nd rounder for Scott when he is signed by whoever and a 2nd round "sandwich" I believe so a pick likely 60-90 and another one around 100 or so. We lost a 2nd rounder for signing Mike Stanton, so basically we flipped flopped the SF b/c of he was a type B for them. In all, they should have 6 picks within the 1st 100 picks or so.

    1st: Their Own
    Supplemental: From SF
    2nd: From SF
    2nd: Schoeneweiss
    Supplemental (I believe): Schoenweiss
    3rd: Their Own

Of course, they could lose their 2nd or 3rd when/if they sign type B and C guys who will be a complete waste for the 70-92 upcoming season.

...here's hoping some of those picks pan out.

Thanks man. Yeah I hope they do pan out. This could be an interesting draft.
