If that were the case, wouldn't it make sense to talk to traditional losers like the Royals or someone who has truly been terrible?

And if they do, they should end before they even get going.

That would be pure stupidity on the part of the Reds to make a A-Rod for Bailey deal.

Guys with Bailey's talent don't come around very often and he's a pitcher.

    No thanks.

yeah, I am sorry, but no way, I would be willing to part with Dunn and Jr for A-Rod though

Bailey would probably be a fair asking price, but one that would make zero sense for the Reds considering how rare a pitching prospect has been for us. This whole rumor is nothing though. I really hope we can just open up the damn wallet this offseason so we can gain some talent without losing it at the same time.

Some of you guys want an ace for Dunn, but you don't think A-Rod should net an ace type pitcher when he is a better all around player than Dunn. At the very least, you'd say they're similar type players in that respect and should receive similar compensation. You can't have it both ways. If you think Dunn should net an ace type pitcher, then certainly A-Rod should. If you don't think A-Rod is worth an ace, then neither is Dunn.

I never said Dunn is worth an ace-type pitcher.

I'm not even sure A-Rod is, though he is certainly more worth one than Dunn.

And when I say I wouldn't do a A-Rod for Bailey deal, it's not that I don't think the deal would be "fair" technically, it's just that I don't think it's smart of the Reds to give up someone with the talent Bailey has for a hitter (albeit a great one).

I wouldn't mind the Reds adding an impact bat, but not at the price of Bailey.

More like through a FA signing.

neither are worth an Ace, but I will say that Dunn and A-Rod are just about equal, due to Dunn's age. like stated Bailey for A-Rod is really fair, and maybe slightly unfair for New York, since Bailey hasn't even pitched in the Majors yet.. its just a player you don't want to trade.. of course I remember a day when Pokey Reese was that untouchable player, but at least Bailey has done it in the Minors.
