    Reds finalize 25-man roster

Two interesting bits here. One is Cruz made the last spot over Luis Lopez(no shock) and 5 players placed on DL. But the other in the article is this:

Griffey in two hole: In 165 career at-bats at the second position in the batting order, Griffey Jr. has hit .261 with six home runs and 17 RBIs.

Those aren't gaudy numbers, by any means. But for now, that's where the left-handed Griffey will bat against right-handed pitchers.

That includes Monday's opener against the Mets, when the Reds will face right-hander Pedro Martinez.

So the lineup on Monday might be:

    Jimenez 2B
    Griffey CF
    Casey 1B
    Kearns RF
    Dunn LF
    Randa 3B
    LaRue C
    Aurilia SS

I want Dunn up a little higher, but I'm not sure if it'll happen on Monday.

Yeah that sounds about right CRF. I think I would rather see Dunn 2 than Griffey, but I guess the way Kearns has swung the bat he deserves to be cleanup for the moment. I also think maybe in your lineup they might flip-flop Aurilia with LaRue.

They probably will flip-flop the two, but that's going to make the lineup less productive if they do.

If we find out on Monday that the lineup is:

    Jimenez
    Griffey
    Casey
    Kearns
    Dunn
    Randa
    Aurilia
    LaRue...

I'm going to be a bit annoyed.

I want Freel leading off(and Lopez starting) but assuming they don't, I want:

    Jimenez
    Dunn
    Casey
    Kearns
    Griffey
    Randa
    LaRue
    Aurilia

Reds website says Aurilia will bat 7th

CRF's lineup is perfect. Dunn batting 2nd and Lopez starting and hitting 7th.

I totally agree that it should be that way, but I just dont think they see it that way. But maybe they will prove me wrong. Hopefully it wont take to long before Lopez wins the SS job. I do like your 2nd lineup CRF. But even if they dont go with it I cant wait for the season to start.

I really don't get why O'Brien is obsessed with Aurilia the way he is. Lopez was better during ST and has better chance at success.

I can't believe Griffey is going along with batting 2nd.

Thats a good point. I thought he always said he would never bat out of the 3 hole. Maybe he doesnt care anymore and just wants to do whatever it takes to help. Or even hes just happy to be in the lineup. Either way it is still strange.

Yeah, you could be right. I think he wants to play SO much right now that he might not even worry where he hits anymore.

Studies showed last year that the leadoff hitter got 18 more atbats then the #2 hitter, 2 hitter gets 18 more atbats than the 3 hitters, and so on.

If Dunn bats 5th instead of 2nd, he will lose 54 atbats. Last year Dunn homered every 12 atbats meaning he will most likely lose 4-5 homeruns this year if he bats 5th.

btw volzok, I dont know if ya knew or not...I am Claussen#27.
