Scott Nethery promoted to assistant GM

    Nethery promoted

The Reds today named Scott Nethery assistant general manager and senior director of pro scouting.

Nethery spent 2006 as a special assistant to GM Wayne Krivsky for player personnel. Prior to joining the Reds on Feb. 12, Nethery worked for the Mets in 2005 and the Braves from 1991-2004, all in some sort of scouting capacity.

This move and the earlier elevation of Bob Miller to assistant GM effectively gives the Reds two people performing the duties that fell under Dean Taylor's umbrella in the previous regime. Nethery will supervise pro scouting and Miller will be the point man on contract negotiations.

I can't seem to find much on him so far.

One page on Google is a site of his sister who mentions him briefly in response to a question of some sort(I think) by saying he has been a successful MLB scout.

I like that he was with the Braves during their nice run for 13 years and he was with Minaya last year in NY and you see what they have done this year.

I'll try to find out more.

It's too early to determine what Minaya has done with their system, but if he was a part of the Braves mass minor league depth, that's quite impressive.
