Amazing. Castro has started one game all month, and he's 7-for-32 since the beginning of August. It's one thing to bring him back for 2007, but there was absolutely no need to give him another multiyear contract, his third straight even though he's never hit .260 in a season. Castro is now 34, and if he's still an above average fielder, it's not by any great margin. He's a career .232/.271/.339 hitter. The contract certainly won't break the bank, but it still doesn't make much sense.
