Basically, we have almost no chance at all of making the playoffs. Of course that was a certainty as soon as Krivsky neglected starting pitching and our offense went to bed for the year.
It is looking more and more like we might be a below average(below .500 team still). Krivsky will have to do a lot in the offseason to make us a GOOD team(around double-digits over .500 or better such as teams like the Mets and Cards).
Krivsky needs to take tips from Minaya and Jocketty.

That desperation trade with Washington is starting to look pretty bad right about now.

Our offense was up and down before the trade. It's just been really bad since the West Coast trip started. Griffey has continued to not hit, Dunn has struggled, Freel has had some issues lately, Clayton has been Clayton, Hatteberg has slumped some, as has Phillips. Edwin and surprisingly Aurilia have been the most consistent hitters lately and even they have had some rough games. They simply take awful AB lately. They look like they are all swinging for the fences every time up. They have had almost no patience at all.

Well Cards arn't looking to impressive as of late
you want facts looks like the mets got the playoffs in there pocket a free ride to the world series for the Mets
Yeah, Minaya's team certainly looks like one of the favorites from the NL.
And the Cards haven't looked great lately? I think they were (7-3) coming into today over their last 10 games.
They are currently double-digits over .500.

Let's not use the Mets as a benchmark for the Reds. Jocketty built his team, made smart lowkey acquisitions and the bigger names he usually gets is more often than not through trade. I know their payroll is not small market by any means, but as of late, the Cards have not gone into the FA market and blown others away with their offers. Minaya has obviously done well, but his strategy is not one for Krivsky to take note of as that is not realistic for this franchise as I am willing to bet our biggest haul this offseason will be mid level 3rd starter for most clubs (a rival #2 for ours.) I am not trying to shortchange Minaya, it's just the Mets are in a different world, the Cards and the Twins however are obvious inspirations.Originally Posted by CincyRedsFan30

We have some tough teams to face and unless the Reds go on a 9 or 10 game tear, which has been extremely rare, we can kiss whatever little hope we have goodbye. And with our backend of the rotation and our putrid offense of late, it's not looking promising.

If Castellini was serious about his "burning desire to win," he will be willing to make the Reds' payroll very large. I will be disappointed if he doesn't do so.
And when I say he(Krivsky) needs to take tips, I mean in terms of acquiring talent. He needs to look to them for what talent looks like. Sometimes(especially in Jocketty's case) those players might not appear great on the surface, but he has to learn to identify players who will get it done when it counts. Jocketty always seems to find them. We need to look a little more like:
Miles
Duncan
Pujols
Rolen
Juan Encarnacion
Taguchi
Molina
And:
Carpenter, Suppan, Marquis, Weaver and Reyes
We could also use guys like Josh Hancock back apparently.
The problem is it may take a large number of years to catch the Cards, as they will continue to use Jocketty Methodology for years to come in all likelyhood. I'm just not sure we have the talent in our Front Office to compete with that particular style.

looks like The Cards are not doing to well as it may seem
only reason they are even above the reds are cause the Reds are doing just a bit worse than them
