If we were able to trade Griffey and most his salary (I think even George would want some help) the first thing I would want done is signing Adam Dunn to a LTC. That is our cornerstone and they have to prove to us they are willing to build around him for the long term.

"Something has to be done and Kearns isn't a popular fellow with O'Brien".

No official word of a deal though... yet.

Just the one's from the NY papers/radio, etc. (Three-team deal, et al.)

OK, a three team deal? What is that all about?

BTW Wang is being showcased as a starter tonight I believe.

Don't listen to rumors that act as if the Yankees have anything other than money to offer. New York's only prospect is Eric Duncan, a third baseman. The Reds obviously have one of those, and a better one at that. Griffey may be traded, likely for crap if the Yankees just eat his contract. Even in that case, it would be a terrible move for the Yankees, although I'm not sure if they'd realize it.

I've read from another board that the proposed deal right now is Kearns for Robinson Cano and Chien-Ming Wang.

Whoever said that is an idiot.

three team deal i might buy since i have no idea what it would mean, but as i said before, they won't trade kearns for yankees prospects. If they were trading kearns for prospects, which really wouldn't make any sense anyway, they would have done it with the nationals who have better talent in the minors.

That would be horrible, and could be something almost true. The Yankees are showcasing those two for sure. Man that would suckbad because we don't need another 2B and I am not sure of Wang's talent.

    More on this...

Another Ken Griffey Jr. rumor popped up Wednesday ... actually, the same rumor. A New York-area newspaper reported a possible trade to the New York Yankees.

"What's new?" Griffey said with a laugh. "I called my agent (Brian Goldberg) to wish him a happy birthday, and he warned me to be ready, that the rumor is out there again."

As a 10-and-5 guy, Griffey can shoot down any trade and said, "They (Yankees) haven't asked me about it — that would be tampering — and they haven't asked my agent."

Because of the day's closed-door meetings and the lateness of the lineup card, when Ryan Freel saw his name on the card playing center field he said, "Something is going down. I can feel it."

Not really, just Freel's first start this season in center field after starting games so far at second base (eight), third base (2) and left field (2).

Griffey said he did hear from his 3-year-old son, Tevyn.

"He told me I need to kick my front leg higher to hit the ball farther, to kick it, actually kick it," said Griffey. "Now I'm getting hitting instructions from a 3-year-old."
