A father and son tag team in WLW's booth for next season?

    Per Lance:

I believe the next Reds broadcaster can be heard this Saturday afternoon on Fox 19 as the Cubs face the Cards in St Louis...........Thom Brennaman. Don't be surprised if the announcement is made prior to the end of the season.........IF not sooner.

We all know Lance's rumors are about as trustworthy as the brainteam ESPN assembles in their baseball crew, but it's worth discussion. Obviously Thom is recoginized on a much bigger stage than the canidates I was expecting, but the fact that he could do it with Marty before he eventually retires and take over for him at that point (which could be attractive since that's what he grew up with) does make sense. Not to mention the fact that it would be a passing of a legacy down and keeping it 'in the family' (literally here), which seems to be a goal of R Cast. I mean, what better way to start a new tradition of winning than having a torch passing like that. This all could be bunk though since it's Lance, we'll see I suppose.

from what i have heard, Thom was set up with a great deal in Arizona, and is likely to not want to leave, but you never know.. lol, i joke that marty and steve is like marty and marty.. now it will be even more so.. i would like a former player in the booth, but this would be good for what mission said when Marty does retire

A lot of people have argued that it would be better to have a former player as NFL suggested. But those are the same people that voted Pete Rose as the best candidate for the job. Idiots!

Anyhow, I think Thom Brennaman is a great choice if it were going to happen. I am sure RCast wouldn't pass up the opportunity either. Marty would definitely be pleased (which seems hard to do at times IMO). And the best thing is, we would get a great guy to take over once Marty is finished.

I really think Marty's days in the booth are numbered. I have heard that this is the first year that he has taken a vacation during the season and I believe he has done it twice this year. Either he is getting worn out and needs the rest, or he is simply having some kind of health issues that are being addressed and at the same time kept under wraps. I am not sure which, but I feel something is going on there.

I would like that a lot. It would be fun to hear them working together and Thom is a good announcer.

Homer: We're proud of you, boy.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.
