Burns optioned to AAA; Belisle recalled

Today the Reds optioned to Louisville RHP Mike Burns (11g, 0-0, 8.78)…Burns was recalled on 6/18, when Brandon Claussen went on the DL, and since then made 2 relief apps (6/18 vs WSox, Thu at NYM)...was his third stint with the Reds this season.

Tomorrow, the Reds are expected to recall from a rehabilitation assignment and reinstate from the 15-day disabled list RHP Matt Belisle....since 5/30 Belisle has been on the DL, retroactive to 5/28, with a strained lower back...he didn't allow an earned run in his 6 rehab apps at Dayton, Chattanooga and Louisville (1-0-1, 9.1ip, 7h, 1r, 0er, 0bb, 9k).

Good to see this switch happen. Belisle has been one of our best pitchers in the bullpen this year and second to Coffey in ERA. While Burns has been one of the worst. Sounds great to me. Now we have another arm in the pen to help Coffey and Hammond.

If healthy I expect him to be pretty good. Not great, but pretty good.
