Thread: reds @ cubs - memorial day

reds @ cubs - memorial day

narron is shaking up the lineup a bit for this one, wisely IMO moving Dunn to second:

    Felo ss
    Dunn lf
    Grif cf
    Aurilia 3b
    Hatteberg 1b
    Kearns rf
    Phillips 2b
    Larue c
    Elizardo p

Aside from Dunn it leaves a little to be desired. I'd like to see kearns start hitting in the middle of the lineup, he's certainly been a more reliable hitter than griffey, aurilia, or hatteberg.

    6: Arroyo, Harang

1: Aurilia, Hatteberg, Lizard, Larue, Shackelford

things just aren't going right for the reds. The lizard did what he could but womack got one by aurilia because he was in at third (why? no one on, one out) for a double, and ramirez got a flare to drop in no mans land for a double. Add in a solid todd walker single (the only solidly hit ball in the inning) and it's already a 2 - 0 lead for the cubs.

i alsways stick up for the reds so much, and they haven't been doing so well. maybe they're trying to tell me something, maybe they want me to be less nice to light a fire for them. well reds, i'll do what i can!

wood doubles just to rub it in our faces, but he's stranded. marty and john fay were talking about how Kerry Wood looks like the Wood of the old days today, which is not good. Hopefully he'll get tired quickly or we could be in for a long and crappy day.

felipe, with two outs, barely (one might even say accidentally) gets a grounder by todd walker at first to drive in brandon phillips, who'd moved to third on a passed ball and a ground out after a single of his own. Dunn, staunchly refusing to get a hit as any good slack jawed yokel would, grounds out to end the inning. 2 - 1 cubs.

felipe leads off the bottom of the third with a sweet throwing error, trying to erase the rbi he accidentally got in the top of the inning, but the lizard K's aramis ramirez afer a groundout and a fly out to end the inning. too bad felipe, maybe next time!

2nd and 3rd no one out? the mighty offense of the reds is able to muster one sac fly of course! kearns ties it up with a shot to the track, but it required a todd walker error, a bunt single from our beastly cleanup hitter rich aurilia, and a kerry wood passed ball. Now that's a potent offense!

jerry narron wants good defense does he? Well then stop having aurilia play in all the time!!!! i hate that crap. Wood just got an RBI single because he was in so far and it always goes like that. The reds would have a 2-1 lead if he'd been in the right position all game (also probably would have helped if we had a real 3rd baseman, oh wait, we do! we just don't use him). Instead it's 3-2 cubs after 4.

Ramirez has been pretty decent today, had some bad luck but still has us right in the thick of things.

yeah, gets through another one with the wind blowing out, though the cubs aren't exactly impressive these days. the reds good hitters just aren't good anymore.

    This team sucks right now!

    MVP: No one
    Bum: Everyone, including Jerry Narron

I am really getting tired of Narron and these garbage lineups.
