Johnson reaches on an infield single to 3B. Nice stop by Olmedo there though. 1st and 2nd, 2 outs.

Homer: We're proud of you, boy.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

Nice catch by Phillips ends the game!

MVP for the night, has to be Scott Hatteberg. Big hit in the 8th and a couple nice defensive plays as well.

What a game! I have to say the Reds did it big at the plate tonight. And the defense was slick as well. A good win and we are on top of the Central again. Harang had a dissapointing night, but we are still winners!

MVP: Kearns with Felo being real close second

Yea CRF come to think of it Kearns did have a good game going 4-4, forgot about him because of the Hatteberg double.

    ears gets it

and hattey with a few good defensive plays? shocking, seeing as he's probably one of the worst 1b fielders in the league

Hatteberg's defense is probably looking far better to us than it actually is because we're all used to the immovable object known as Sean Casey. That said, his defense has been pretty great over the last week, so I'll take it.

MVP: Kearns. He's surpassing my own fairly lofty projections (.274/.371/.511for him thus far by a pretty wide margin. He won't hit for this average all year (He's 4th in the NL in average), but he's been raking to all fields, and I do think that will continue. Felipe is second, and while it's looking like his power hasn't been all the way there yet, he's starting to turn on the hitting and his walk-rate is up a little from last year. His 15 steals lead the majors by 3 at the moment, and he doesn't need to hit 25 homers if he's gonna steal 40 bases, especially at the success rate he has right now.

Bum: Mercker. When you come in to get a poor-hitting lefty batter out, I think it would be a good idea to not give up an RBI double.

agree with geki on all above, except my bum might be Narron for over-managing. Baseball prospectus rates Coffey as the 2nd most effective reliever in the NL right now, and he'd just brutally struck someone out. With 2 down and a guy on first, is that the time to go righty lefty?

If he leaves coffey in, in all likelihood he gets out of the inning, no runs score, harang gets the win...

in the end it doesn't matter, but it pissed me off a lot last night when it looked like it might have meant the game.
    Reds MVP Race

    6: Arroyo, Harang
    5: Kearns
    4: Phillips
    3: Dunn, Felo, Freel, Milton
    2: Claussen, EdE, Griffey, Valentin
1: Aurilia, Hatteberg, Lizard, Larue, Shackelford

I agree with both of you here.

Narron seems to be getting "Bob Boone Syndrome" lately.

Narron was the real bum last night, but I have to exclude the manager from such decisions, since he'd probably take it every night otherwise.
