    Game 9: Reds @ Cubs 4/13

Thought i'd get the game thread started early today to see what people think the lineup is going to look like. I'm thinking that this could be Phillips first start, since griffey is probably going to be down, and i have to think EdE is going to sit after the debacle yesterday. I'll guess:

    Freel cf
    FeLo ss
    Dunn lf
    Aurilia 3b
    Hatteberg 1b
    Kearns rf
    Valentin c
    Phillips 2b
    Reds MVP Race

    6: Arroyo, Harang
    5: Kearns
    4: Phillips
    3: Dunn, Felo, Freel, Milton
    2: Claussen, EdE, Griffey, Valentin
1: Aurilia, Hatteberg, Lizard, Larue, Shackelford

Freel and Phillips both playing would be ideal but I don't know if Narron would think so. BTW, has Womack started a game where he hasn't lead off? I am thinking no, but I could be wrong.

    Lineup for today:
    Freel CF
    Lopez SS
    Dunn LF
    Aurilia 3B
    Hatteberg 1B
    Kearns RF
    Phillips 2B
    Ross C

    Pretty darn close Wally.

Why's narron starting Ross against a righty? Valentin rakes from the left and is totally useless from the right.

    Stupid, stupid, stupid.

WHY does EdE sit after a bad game? They are obviously doing everything they can to shatter his confidence.

I think Narron likes Ross catching Milton or something? It keeps getting repeated that Ross is supposedly good at calling games. We'll see.

Doesn't Ross catch Arroyo too or was just for one start?

Yeah, it seems Narron likes using Ross with Arroyo too.

So if Ross catches two pitchers, I wonder where that'll leave Valentin and Arroyo.

"Well, I will just have to find a way for all three catchers to get playing time."

Yeah, it will be interesting when LaRue gets back. I can't see how he would catch any less than three of the five starters, but where does that leave Valentin and Ross? He might give them one each or something?!

How many managers would not find a way to get Ryan Freel into the lineup? Anything is possible with Narron.

Oh good. We're doing the "don't swing at anything" strategy again.
