White Sox The Most Insane Story of the Year

According to Chris De Luca of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Marlins discussed trading Mike Stanton to the White Sox for manager Ozzie Guillen.
It's an absolutely insane story, but actually somewhat believable. Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is known for being stubborn and De Luca's source said that Loria was "intent" on making Guillen his club's next skipper. Talks eventually fell through and Guillen agreed last month to return to the White Sox for another season. Stanton, 20, is one of the most promising outfield prospects in baseball and slugged 22 home runs this year in only 359 at-bats. To say the least, it wouldn't have been a fair trade for the Fish.
If the White Sox knew of this and turned it down, they have to be the dumbest team in all of baseball....right after the Marlins for even proposing this ridiculousness. This is pretty hard to believe so I'm going to wait for more info but good jesus!! This is retarded!! Why can't the Marlins offer him for Bochy?

Re: The Most Insane Story of the Year

    And it's not even true.

Twitter / joe capozzi: #Marlins sources are denyi ...

#Marlins sources are denying ever having talks with White Sox about Ozzie Guillen for Mike Stanton...
    Williams refutes Guillen-to-Marlins story | whitesox.com: News

"False," said Williams definitively when asked about the column, before expounding on the matter a bit more. "No. 1, you can't talk about another team's player.

"That's tampering. All I can say is the report isn't completely accurate."

According to a high-ranking White Sox source, the Marlins called and inquired about Guillen and the White Sox demanded compensation just to talk with him, with one year still remaining on Guillen's contract. The two teams never came to an agreement over the compensation, with Stanton not serving as any sort of talking point, so official permission was never given to the Marlins to talk to Guillen.

If and I say very very loosely IF this were remotely true then that is yet more grounds on why Baseball should do the sport a favor and get rid of Jeffrey Loria. He's already killed one franchise and well on his way to killing Florida.

It was confirmed false that the two teams talked, but I saw on MLBTradeRumors that it was TRUE the Marlins discussed internally about the possibility of the deal, which is equally as flabbergasting

You misread it. It said the White Sox "may have discussed it internally"...that's White Sox.

Ozzie Guillen For Mike Stanton Trade Was Discussed: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

9:56am: The Marlins did not discuss an Ozzie-Stanton trade with the White Sox, according to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post (Twitter link). The White Sox may have discussed the possibility internally, but it seems to have been wishful thinking on Chicago’s part.
