    White Sox Contreras Sent Down

Jose Contreras has reportedly agreed to accept as assignment to the minors.
He'll have to clear waivers, but that shouldn't be a problem. As expected, Clayton Richard will replace him in the rotation this week.
Jose has been as bad as you can be. He is 0-5 with a 8.19 ERA with 17 K's and 16 BB's. I doubt we'll see him rejoin the rotation anytime soon.

Took long enough...hopefully Clayton Richard is ready to give the occasional quality start and go 5 innings without major damage the rest of the time.

Jose Contreras threw six shutout innings in his first start since being demoted to Triple-A Charlotte.
Contreras allowed just three hits, but he did walk five batters while striking out five. He'll make a few more starts before the White Sox consider bringing him back up.
I dare him to do it again

Baseball and talent can be so fickle. I read The Yankee Years last month and it is crazy to think that this is the pitcher that the Yankees and Red Sox battled over, the pitcher that Epstein wanted more than anything. Its been some years since then of course, but it doesn't seem like too long ago.

He had talent, but the fact that the talent was long forbidden to the MLB caused the Yankees and Red Sox to overrate him.

Very true. It just was really put into perspective thinking about a guy that desired by the two beasts of baseball and now he is pitching in small towns and $5 tickets. Here today, gone tomorrow often is the nature of this game.

Not sure I really agree with this. Because he did have tons of talent. Enough talent for baseball's two biggest teams to fight over. And there was a lot of reasons why Epstein wanted Contreras. However, he's listed as 37 years old on the White Sox media guide, and seriously, the dude must be atleast 2, maybe 3 years older then what that even said. Aging sucks. Especially for athletes who are still trying to make good money.

Jose Contreras threw a one-hitter for Triple-A Charlotte Monday night.
After striking out five and walking three, Contreras' minor league ERA still sits at a perfect 0.00 in 15 innings. The 10/8 K/BB ration isn't quite as promising. Manager Ozzie Guillen said Tuesday that he has no plans to promote Contreras anytime soon.
    Ozzie is smart sometimes.
