White Sox Griffey Wants To Stay

After being eliminated from the playoffs, impending free agent Ken Griffey Jr. said Monday that he has no plans to retire and would like to re-sign with the White Sox.
''I'm not retiring. I have things to do,'' Griffey said. ''I'd like to come back. It was a great ride. A lot of fun. I've had more ups than downs. The city, the fans, it's been great for me. This team fought all year. They were fun to be around. We'll see what happens.'' Griffey is clearly a favorite of general manager Kenny Williams, but hit just .260/.347/.405 in in 41 games with the White Sox and turns 39 years old next month.
He has an option for next year worth $16.5 with a $4 million buyout. ChiSox will definitely buy that out but it will be interesting to see if Kenny will take him back.
