White Sox Sox Sign Darin Erstad

White Sox signed outfielder Darin Erstad to a one-year, $1 million contract with a club option for 2008.

He'll make $750,000 this year. The club option for 2008 will be worth $3.5 million and could increase to as much as $6 million if he gets 600 plate appearances this season. A $250,000 buyout is included.

    That just happened!

Uh...good 4th OF and can play some 1B, not a bad signing.

I don't see him getting 600 plate appearances to trigger his bonuses, but he should be an adequate player for the Sox in LF while Podsednik rehabs after his surgery, and in CF if necessary (if Anderson doesn't play well again). He might be able to fill in at 1B to give Konerko a day off now and then.
Overall, he is still a decent ballplayer, but his all star days are past.

Still like this signing. And Pods will be back and look for him to have a good season!!! He sort of has the Bret Saberhagen disease, good one year, not so good the next. He had an off year last year, look out AL!! He just needs to get healthy!

Darin Erstad had one great year, and sucked ever since. He's not doing it again.

he's a good UTIL player. But he's kinda fluky, he's a great backup but I dont' see anything special about this move.

I don't see him staying healthy to really do anything.
