    Dye's chances for MVP

    .315 BA, 44 HRs, and 120 RBIs.

I think he deserves consideration. He may not be my vote (if I had the power to vote), but he is a definite candidate for the trophy. But what does he have to say about his campaign?

No, I didn't make the playoffs," said Dye when asked if he deserved the MVP support. "[It's] whatever guy helps their team to the playoffs. That leaves two guys, [Derek] Jeter and [Justin] Morneau."
Do you guys agree with his assesment? Or does he deserve more credibility than what he is giving himself?

They should give it to Sean Casey, just cause.

Dye and Morneau only deserve consideration if you refuse to look past AVG/HR/RBI.

I just stated teh HR, RBI, and AVG due to the fact that those voting for the MVP will only look there.

He definetly deserves consideration. As much as Jeter. Both were very good hitters in amazing lineups.

I know Dam will try to say the ChiSox lineup was garbage, but I'm not buying it.

Morneau, Jeter, Dye. My Top 3. In that order.

Jeter, Sizemore, Mauer, in that order. Hafner and Ortiz further down because they make no defensive contribution.

Actually, the White Sox offense was about the only thing that was good for them this year. Jermaine Dye was the White Sox best hitter this year, he came up with a ton of timely hits, and he hit 30 more HRs than Jeter while getting 44 less hits, although Dye did have 84 fewer ABs, over which he would have had a projected 27 more hits, all while playing just as good defensively in RF as Jeter does at SS. Of course he's not going to win it, because the White Sox didn't make the playoffs (thanks to the atrocious pitching for pretty much the entire season, even moreso down the stretch), but I think he's a more deserving candidate than either Jeter or Morneau.
