CHICAGO -- Cold weather nights don't generally tend to favor hitters but on Tuesday night at U.S. Cellular Field, it was a home run kind of night.
The White Sox and Royals combined to hit five home runs as Chicago pulled off a 5-4 victory before 12,362.

Trailing, 4-3, in the bottom of the eighth, Carl Everett hit a two-run double to put the White Sox up for good. Everett's double followed back-to-back singles by Scott Podsednik and Tadahito Iguchi.

Iguchi had a career night going 4-for-4 with three singles and his first Major League home run. Iguchi's blast, a two-run, 380-foot shot over the left-field wall knotted the game at 2 in the bottom of the third. Aaron Rowand hit his second bomb of the year in the seventh to pull the Sox within one, 4-3.

Mark Buehrle had another quality outing but gave up four runs, all off of three long balls. Buehrle worked eight innings, giving up eight hits and no walks while striking out four.

Mike Sweeney hit two home runs, a two-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the sixth. It was the 14th time in his career that he has hit two home runs in the same game. Eli Marerro added the Royals' last run with a solo shot in the sixth.

Shingo Takatsu came in to close the ninth and recorded his seventh save.

What a game for Iguchi. He really has surprised me this year. He helped this team with his offense and defense. Another decent outting by Buerhle, its his like 34 straight start for pitching for 6 innings. Now that is what i call quality starts.
