Thread: Buehrle solid as Iraq.

    Buehrle solid as Iraq.

    Sorry, as a rock

Mark Buehrle surrendered two runs in six innings against the Royals today but wasn't involved in the decision.
Both runs scored on solo homers by Tony Graffanino and Emil Brown. Buehrle put eight other runners on base besides the two homers, but he pitched out of a few jams to keep the game tied at 2-2 when he departed. He'll see the Twins and Devil Rays in his next two starts.

Some mitigating factors involve numerous jams, solo homers by non homer-und hitters, and he was facing the Royals. But he had another quality start, and is there any pitcher in baseball more dependable for a quality start when needed than Mark Buehrle? Seriously?

As of late, I'd have to say Jose Contreras is more dependable, but then again, he's just been on fire since last August.

Of course soon after I say this, I find out that Contreras may have to miss a few starts due to back problems.

Yep, seems like Contreras will be going on the 15-day DL, retroactive May 4th. He'll be back for his 5/20 start against the Cubs.

What annoys me about it is they brought up Haeger to take Jose's spot. Hasn't McCarthy deserved that opportunity? At least it'll be interesting to see Haeger pitch, knuckleballer.

Well, it's only 2 starts, so I guess Kenny decided it's better to keep McCarthy available in the pen if it's just for a short time. I agree that McCarthy should take the spot of any starter who misses an extended period of time though.
