    Grissom Retires

Cubs announced the retirement of outfielder Marquis Grissom.
Grissom hadn't earned a roster spot by hitting .200/.256/.250 in 40 at-bats. The Cubs were probably going togo with Angel Pagan for the final spot on their bench, though Michael Restovich also remains in camp. Grissom, 38, finishes his career with a .272/.318/.415 line and 429 steals in 8,275 at-bats over 17 years. The two-time All-Star is one of six players in major league history to record 2,000 hits, 200 home runs and 400 stolen bases.
Marquis had a nice career and was a big help for the Braves in their 95 WS Championship. I hope he comes back to the Giants in some capacity.

Man, Grissom was nice. I liked him, sucks to see him leave like this.

A very good team player who gave his all to every team he played for. I will miss him.

Does this mean Dusty has no choice but to play someone under 30?

Someone like Juan Pierre? Yeah, he was playing anyway.

Someone who might break a .400 slugging, then.

Angel Pagan... anyone else amused by that name? Even if it's not pronounced Americanly.

The man who hit .390 in the Braves' only WS run in those many division championships and also caught the final out of the aforementioned WS has retired.

I love that guy, hope he returns as a coach.

Getting Grissom from the Brewers for Devon White rocked. Then it sucked to have him leave and sign with the Giants.
