well, the cubs scored 4 runs in the first inning of game 1 of the reds series despite hairston getting out. (to be fair, the #2 hitter also was out. then patterson went deep at #3).
Corey could probably do well at #2, if you want hairston to be leadoff. I mean, it worked for Ryno for a long time, and Ryno was not your prototypical #1 or #2 hitter (he was more of a #3,#4, or #5 hitter.)

But it's how a guy approaches his at bats as a lead off man. Hairston works the count more than Patterson. So the rest of the team can see what the pitcher is throwing, when Patterson gets out it's usually after 3-4 pitches tops.
