Speaking of former players with jobs in the organization, I hope Maddux continues to play a role. Whether it's assistant to the GM or something else (*COUGH* Pitching Coach *COUGH*), I want him to be around forever. I've read that he was a role player in acquiring Garza.

Although he apparently sees something I don't in Casey Coleman.

Walk-off wild pitches are always fun to watch. I had an opportunity to go to the game Saturday but had no one to work besides me. Fucking fall break!!!

I'm watching ESPN's 2nd showing of "Catching Hell".

I'm very much fighting the urge to go and buy some whiskey.

I thought it was a very well-done documentary. I wish I was there for the little guy!

It is well done. Just brings me back to the feeling that took too many years to get away from.

And I feel bad for him. The guy was a big Cubs fan, and he can never show his face at his team's games. All for doing something every other baseball fan would do.

I remember that so vividly, but they need to take that ban off of him, the ball was in the stands and he had every right to go for it. No one will ever feel as bad about it as he does so why keep making it worse.....they should send a invitation to him for next year's opening day.

At the end of the documentary they showed another replay on Alou how he would have caught that ball if no one was there to reach over, I don't know its very unfortunate what happened to Bartman, just shows how stupid people are, and they will always remain stupid.

    Re: Wait til next year...

I believe to this day he would have caught the ball had nobody touched it first. I just think it's unfortunate that fans make him the scapegoat while it clearly should have been Dusty Baker and Alex Gonzalez. While it was dumb for him to interfere with the play, there was four-plus other fans doing the exact same.

How you don't go out there and calm your players down after Alou's reaction, and how you botch a routine double play in such a big situation is beyond me.

    Ugh.

    Re: Wait til next year...

I wouldn't call Bartman stupid for what he did. If I were in that situation, I would have never thought Alou could have made up that ground. No one had their eyes on Alou but the ball and rightfully so. I know I have never caught a foul ball so I would have been knocking fools out of my way to grab one. I remember watching that game live at the bar and they kept showing that replay over annd over and I was getting pissed. I was yelling "It's just a foul ball, get over it!!". Prior had every opportunity to come back after a foul ball and get Castillo out and didn't and we all know the rest. I was glad they interviewed Karros but would have loved to hear from Prior and Gonzalez.

It was stupid to reach over the railing like that. All fan interference plays are stupid. But like I said earlier, any baseball fan would have done the same.

I would have done the exact same thing. I like Refer said, have never been fortunate enough to catch a foul ball. one that close I'd be chomping at the bit for.

If bartman doesn't interfere, its no gaurentee that Alou catches it. It was a foul ball, it wasn't a Homerun, it was a strike. Alou freaks out way too much at the play, when there's nothing they could have done after the umps ruling. they should have concentrated on getting the remaining outs.

They showed pretty compelling evidence in the documentary that Alou would have caught the ball.

I probably would have reached for the ball too. Most people would, and a lot did at that moment. But that doesn't make it any less dumb.

I feel bad for Bartman. I really do. He shouldnt have gotten this much, if any, attention for it. You can blame the media, Alou, and idiotic Cub fans for it

I'm not going to take this debate any further. Ive already discussed this so much over the past 8 years. Where's the beating a dead horse emoticon when you need it?
