    Cubs Carlos the Cub

According to Carrie Muskat of MLB.com, the Cubs have signed Carlos Pena to a one-year contract believed to be worth $10 million.
Pena was said to be looking for a multi-year contract, but he now has the chance to build up his value and return to the marketplace next winter. The 32-year-old first baseman batted just .196 this past season, but still slugged 32 home runs and was among the league leaders in walks.
Pena should sure up the defense on the infield and will definitely benefit from the friendly confines of Wrigley. I expect his OBP to get back on track and give the Cubs a good year. That he was paid $10 million makes me feel a little better about Huff getting $11 million.

For one year I'll take it. Hopefully he can get a few things fixed and have a good year.
