    Cubs Sandberg Gets His Interview

According to Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago, the Cubs are expected to interview Ryne Sandberg for their managerial opening in the next 10 days.
Former Indians manager Eric Wedge has already been interviewed and the Cubs are also expected to meet with former Marlins skipper Fredi Gonzalez. Sandberg, at least in our eyes, remains the favorite to land the gig. He's put in his time at Triple-A Iowa and is well-liked around the game of baseball.
I really hope Sandberg gets it. He has paid his dues and really don't see any baseball sense going outside the organization when you have a qualified guy right there. No one knows these young guys better than Sandberg. How many times have the Cubs had a HOF player as their manager?

    Re: Sandberg Gets His Interview

Wedge is probably the most qualified candidate, but Sandberg deserves a chance. Plus they'll never live it down if he becomes a successful MLB manager elsewhere.
