Cubs Zambrano to Retire After Contract Ends?

Carlos Zambrano said Friday that he expects to retire in five years.

The topic came up when a reporter mentioned Randy Johnson's 300th win. "‘For 300' Me? No, I'll be out of here in five years," said Zambrano. After his response drew laughter, he added, "No, believe me. After this contract I'm done. I'm serious. Because I don't want to play anymore."

Interesting. I'm sure there's every chance that Zambrano changes his mind, but it amazes me that he'd even suggest retirement. I mean, he's only 28...

If we win a world series in the timespan before that, he can go to peru and kick chickens for a living for all I care once that contract ends.

But he should really retire his mouth, because the market could be even bigger in 5 yrs.. and there's no way a personality like he has turns down more money, or a chance at more money anyway.

theres no chance of him retiring in 5 years unless he blows out his shoulder or elbow so bad that he CANT return.

I can see him retiring after this contract. I'm sure he's tired of the media bashing him at every turn and he can live off his money for the rest of hs life. He's pretty much set. I'm sure the Cubs weren't happy with this in case they ever wanted to trade him.

This guy seems he like to spout stuff that is off the wall and be in the middle on controversy a lot. I don't think he will retire at 33 unless he comes down with a ton of injuries.
