    History Rich Harden makes history

Rich Harden had a historic outing on Wednesday. The Cubs right-hander faced 17 batters and gave up five hits, walked four and struck out eight. That means every batter he faced either got a hit, a walk or a strikeout. According to Elias, no other pitcher over the past 80 years had faced as many batters in a Major League game with each batter getting a hit, a walk or a strikeout.

Wow, that is pretty incredible. Another way to look at is that through 17 batters, or almost six innings, the fielders had nothing to do but throw the ball back and try to hold runners. Pretty easy day at the office if you ask me.

Yep, I was just saying by the number of batters, if retired, would have been six innings of work so to think about it from that perspective if it actually went to six innings would have been pretty crazy that the fielding did essentially nothing (that could be recorded.)
