Cubs Cubs, Bradley agree to 3 year deal

Sources: Chicago Cubs, Milton Bradley agree to three-year, $30 million contract - ESPN

The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract with free-agent outfielder Milton Bradley, sources told ESPN on Monday.
The deal is pending a physical.
Bradley led the American League in on-base percentage last season while batting .321 with 22 homers for the Texas Rangers.

Good deal for both sides. Little lower salary than many would have thought. But, if you ask me, this only solidifies Abreu making about 8-10 million.

Three years? Damn!! Bradley can't stay healthy! Even when he was a DH last year he couldn't do it. Bradley will play RF moving Fukudome to CF with Reed Johnson. The offense should be a lot better against righties when Bradley is healthy. Bradley has been suspended twice during late season playoff races and Chicago fans aren't exactly the most polite. Can he keep his temper in check? Can he stay healthy? This could work out on the short term but I think they gave too many years.

Abreu has more to offer than Bradley does so I think Abreu gets more than the $10 million they just gave Bradley.

Abreu is also older, and didn't have as nasty a year.

Consistency goes a long way. That's something Bradley doesn't have. Abreu's age won't allow him to get as many years but he will get more money.

Bradley would have been better off staying in the AL where he can stay healthy playing DH.

    Three years for Bradley?
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

This signing shows the value of the 1 yr. contract... with the weak market next year, players maybe should sign 1 yr deals and hope the economy is better next year rather then get locked in at a cheap salary over a long period
