Another rough start may cost Koronka next turn

Dusty Baker moved John Koronka back a day in the rotation to let Glendon Rusch pitch against Boston on Sunday, but the Cubs wound up getting shelled in both games.

After allowing six runs in 41/3 innings Monday, Koronka now has a 7.63 earned-run average in three starts, yielding 19 hits and eight walks in 151/3 combined innings.

With an off day Thursday, the Cubs may be able to skip Koronka in the rotation, and they don't need a fifth starter again until June 21 at Milwaukee.

"It's an option," Baker said. "We just have to go back to the drawing board and see what our options are, including him. He threw the ball better tonight early than he had in the last couple of starts, except for that [fifth] inning."

Wood COULD be back by the 21st. I think skipping Koronka until the 21st would be a good plan. He is a liability anytime he starts.
