Scott Eyre DFA'd

Cubs designated LHP Scott Eyre for assignment.
Eyre had pitched just once since coming off the DL on July 23 and gave up three runs in one-third of an inning. He was given a chance to throw a full inning just four times in his 19 appearances last year, and the lack of work probably had something to do with his struggles. There will likely be plenty of interest in him if he becomes a free agent.

Lots of teams will be wanting Eyre and unfortunately my Giants will probably sign him to a three year deal after the season like they did Tim Worrell. But in seriousness, Eyre might be able to help a team in need of a lefty. I know the Cards could use him as well as the Tigers.

it wasnt his lack of innings that contributed to his struggles. it was his lack of health. he never really seemed fully healthy this year.
