Cubs make it two straight vs. Red Sox

CHICAGO -- Todd Hollandsworth drove in three runs and Todd Walker had three hits, drove in a run and scored three runs to lift the Chicago Cubs to a 7-6 victory over the Red Sox on Saturday to take a 2-0 lead in the Interleague series.

With the game tied at 4 and one out in the Cubs' sixth, Walker singled and reached third on Hollandsworth's double. Walker, who played for the Red Sox in 2003, scored on Henry Blanco's sacrifice fly. Aramis Ramirez added a RBI double and Hollandsworth hit a RBI single in the Chicago eighth.

Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano gave up four runs on five hits over five innings before he had to leave the game with a sprained left big toe injured when he slid into second base in the fifth. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for precautionary X-rays.

Todd Wellemeyer (2-1) picked up the win, pitching one inning in relief in front of 39,096 at Wrigley Field eager to see the first series between these two teams since the 1918 World Series. The Cubs have won 12 of their last 15 games and are 4-4 in Interleague Play this season.

The Red Sox jumped out a 4-0 lead after two innings. Zambrano walked Johnny Damon and David Ortiz to set up Trot Nixon's three-run homer with two outs in the Boston first. Bill Mueller led off the Red Sox second with his third homer.

The Cubs rallied, and rapped five straight hits off Wade Miller (2-2) to open the second, including RBI singles by Walker and Hollandsworth. Another run scored when Zambrano grounded into a double play to close to 4-3.

With one out in the Cubs fourth, Walker tripled and scored on Hollandsworth's groundout to tie the game.

The Cubs rallied back, played a nice game, hit well with men in scoring position. The pitchers picked up after Zambrano left the game. Though, Dempster did make the game more 'exciting' in the 9th.
It is just too unfortuned that Zambrano injured his toe. Hopefully he will be okay, won't miss too many starts or non.
