Article Bartman turns down 25,000$ autograph signing offer

MLB - Bartman Declines $25,000 Autograph

Not the first time he's turned something like this down, either.

Still has to suck to be him, probably more than the fans who hate him. It's not like he didn't watch the team collapse too. But it's beating a dead horse to bring it all back up right now, just thought this was pretty interesting.

If somebody offers me $25,000 to scribble my name on a photograph I'm doing it.

    Dignity or $25,000?

The choice is easy for me.

    Maybe Bartman's set financially.

I could see maybe turning it down if 25K wasn't much for me to avoid the mini-media circus that might come with it, but since I live paycheck to paycheck I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Screw pride, that's one of the dumbest reasoning behind a lot of people's decisions in life.

People throw sense and reasoning out the window in the name of pride and I just shake my head.

If he signs the autograph he's digging himself into a deeper hole then the one he's already in. Plus he has allot of pride to turn down that offer. Also by signing the ball he's going to get the perception that it was his fault when it wasn't. The wound will always be there for him, only time will heal it. So I like what he did.

Who cares what other people think of him, though?

He knows it wasn't his fault.

He knows anyone else would have gone for the ball.

Other people villainizing Bartman is their problem, not Bartman's.

He may as well cash in on their stupidity.

Is $25,000 worth more death threats?

Yeah but if you sign and get the money, your basically believing/proving what people say/think about you.

That is a valid point, though

Perhaps I'd give it more thought than I originally thought if I was in Bartman's shoes.

    No, I'm just believing/proving I'm getting 25K

Others may perceive that I'm believing/proving what they're saying about me, but, again, that's their problem, not mine.

Your only getting 25k because of what people think of you. If it wasn't for that incident we wouldn't know who Bartman was, no one would care to give him 25k+ death threats to sign a ball.

Yes, all of that is true, but irrelevant to my reasoning for accepting the offer.

Me accepting somebody's idiotic offer of 25K to sign a picture doesn't alter the actual facts of what took place that day, nor does it alter what I believe in regards to the incident.

It just means that when somebody offers me 25K to sign my name on a photograph I become 25,000 dollars richer.

Can't put a price on dignity. I know that is hard for you to understand.
