SAN DIEGO -- Mark Prior's return from a non-displaced fracture in his right elbow may be several weeks away, but the Cubs have managed to survive quite nicely without their disabled ace.

Manager Dusty Baker said Wednesday in Los Angeles he hoped Prior would be able to return around the All-Star break.

Prior wouldn't give an estimate Sunday when asked if that is a possibility.

"I hope [it is], but right now I'm taking it one day at a time," he said. "I'm just doing as much as they allow me to do on any given day. They haven't given me a timetable. I don't know when I'm going to be back."

I just hope Prior takes his time and doesn't try and get back too soon. I'd rather not have him this year and have him healthy for the future.
